French Confit Pot Glazed Terracotta

Classic French terracotta confit pot originating from Southern France, typically used in the 19th and early 20th centuries for preserving meats such as duck or goose in fat before refrigeration. Crafted from terracotta earthenware, the rounded body tapers to a narrow foot. It has a slightly flared rim finished with two loop handles. The upper portion is glazed in a rich golden ochre, while the lower section is left unglazed with an earthy hue, clay base - a practical design choice to allow the pot to be buried in the cool earth for preservation.

Perfect as a standalone object or repurposed as a vessel for flowers, branches, or garden displays.
